STATEMENT ON ALLEGATIONS OF SEXUAL HARASSMENT
In the light of the seriousness of the allegations of sexual harassment levelled against an official at the South African High Commission in the United Kingdom, the Department of Foreign Affairs has appointed Mr. Gert Grobbler, Chief Director: Europe as an Investigating Officer in terms of the Disciplinary Code and Procedures of the Public Service (Public Service Co-ordinating Bargaining Council Protection 2 of 1999), to investigate this matter in order to establish whether there exists prima facie to institute a charge of misconduct.
In pursuit of this matter High Commissioner Cheryl Carolus met with representatives of the South African Airways and Scotland Yard (Diplomatic Police Section), in London today, Thursday 18 May.
