There appears to be some misunderstanding regarding an answer given by the Minister of Transport Mac Maharaj to Parliament on toll roads in Gauteng.

He answered a question from the NCOP (in his capacity as the national Minister of Transport) that the Gauteng Provincial Cabinet took a decision in principle to develop of Provincial Toll Roads Strategy in November last year and that legislation would be submitted to their Cabinet later this year. This is the EXCO of the provincial government and not the Cabinet of national government.

The roads Gauteng plan to toll are provincial roads and therefore a matter for the Gauteng government. All questions must therefore be directed to the Gauteng Department of Transport.
