MEDIA RELEASE BY MR TT MBOWENI, MINISTER OF LABOUR, ON HIS VISITS TO SCANDINAVIA, 17 FEBRUARY 1997
Minister of Labour Tito Mboweni leaves today for a 10 day tour of Scandinavian countries to meet his counterparts and hold discussions with labour department officials in Finland, Norway, Sweden and Denmark.
Included in Mr Mboweni's itinerary are meetings with Finish Minister of Labour Ms Lisa Jaakonsaari, Norwegian Minister of Local Government and Labour Mr Kjell Opseth, Norway's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Central Organisation of Finish Trade Unions and Confederation of Finnish Industry and Employers and the Norwegian Agency for Development and Co-operation. He will also hold discussions on labour market policies, the working environment, security and health measures with department officials and meet academics and researchers involved in social and economic policy.
Mr Mboweni returns to South Africa on Thursday, February 27.
