MISSION

The mission of the new Department has been revisited and is now directed at the following aims:
* To establish and maintain, in the spirit of the Constitution, and through a democratic process of transformation, a legitimate administration of justice which is efficient, accessible, accountable, just, user-friendly and representative of the South African community;
* to exercise and perform administrative powers, duties and functions in an efficient, cost-effective and transparent manner which will ensure that mechanisms are always in place to serve justice;
* to promote equality, freedom, fairness and respect for human rights; and
* to incorporate and expand community participation in the administration of justice.
