ANC STATEMENT ON THE MEETING BETWEEN PRESIDENT NELSON MANDELA AND DEPUTY PRESIDENT FW DE KLERK, 24 April 1996
President Nelson Mandela and ANC Secretary-General Cyril Ramaphosa today met with Deputy President FW de Klerk and National Party Secretary-General Roelf Meyer in Cape Town today, Wednesday 24 April, to evaluate progress being made in the constitution-making process.
President Nelson Mandela is satisfied with progress being made and remains confident that the outstanding constitutional issues will be resolved without much difficulty.
In this regard, the two delegations agreed that if and when the need arises, a bilateral of senior leaders of the two parties will meet to deal with any outstanding matters.
The ANC wishes to emphasise that sufficient progress is being made and that all outstanding issues will be resolved within the given time-frames.
