4 Feb 2013

Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan will present the 2013 Budget to Parliament on 27 February 2013. National Treasury will host a workshop for journalists on Monday, 25 February 2013.

The workshop will focus on the budget process, the impact of Parliament’s power to amend money bills on the budget, the function of the National Treasury, Minister’s Committee on the Budget and Cabinet in the Budget process, and an explanation of the roles of Parliament and National Treasury in public finance management.

The workshop assists journalists in understanding, analysing and using the information contained in different documents.

Journalists should bring along copies of the 2012 Budget documents, as these will be used throughout the workshop. Copies are available on our website.

Details for the workshop are as follows:

Date: Monday, 25 February 2013
Time: 9h30 until 12h30
Venue: Imbizo media room, Parliament, Cape Town
