Scholar transport ready to transport learners

15 Jan 2013

Following a successful implementation of the Scholar Transport programme last year, The Eastern Cape Department of Transport will announce its state of readiness for 2013 today at King William’s Town, Stellenbosch Park in Schornville at 11h00.

Since the migration of Scholar Transport programme from the Department of Education to the Department of Transport, there has been a significant improvement in the service. However, the department still believes that a lot can still be done in order to improve the efficiency of the service.

Even the Department of Education acknowledges that the service, as administered by the Department of Transport, has dramatically improved since 18 July 2011. For the first time there is actual control over who transports the scholars, the type of vehicles and whether the service was actually rendered.

Members of the media are hereby invited to be part of the session.
