Minister of Home Affairs and Her Deputy to visit hospitals in Cape Town and Johannesburg on New Year’s Day to promote Birth Registration Campaign

The Minister of Home Affairs, Naledi Pandor and Deputy Minister, Fatima Chohan, will on 1 January 2013, visit hospitals in Cape Town and Johannesburg respectively, as part of the Department of Home Affairs’ birth registration campaign.

  • Minister Pandor will visit the Bonteheuwel Maternity Unity in Cape Town at 08h00,
  • Deputy Minister Cohen is scheduled to visit, Charlotte Maxeke, Parktown at 10h30 and Rahima Moosa, Coronationville at 12h00, both in Johannesburg.

The purpose of the visits is to promote birth registration and highlight the importance of registering the birth of the newly born children within 30 days of their delivery in line with the Department of Home Affairs’ National Population Registration (NPR) campaign.
