President Jacob Zuma and Former President Thabo Mbeki to be conferred with Military Veterains Medals

President Jacob G Zuma and former President Thabo Mbeki will be conferred with military veterans medals at a military veterans medals parade that will be held as follows:
Date: Thursday, 6 December 2012
Time: 10h00
Venue: Waterkloof Air Force Base, in Tshwane

This is the third military veterans medals parade to be held to honour military veterans that belonged to the founding members of the former Umkhonto we Sizwe (MK) the Luthuli Detachment as part of the 50th anniversary of MK and for their contribution in bringing about democracy and freedom.

On the occasion President JG Zuma will also confer medals to about 90 other last medal recipients of the Luthuli Detachments.

Other medals parades will be held next year (2013) to honour the remaining detachments of MK, the Azanian People’s Liberation Army Military Veterans as well as the Azanian National Liberation Army Military Veterans when its integration process has been completed.
Two such parades were held on 2nd August and 27th October 2012 in Bloemspruit and Waterkloof Air Force Bases respectively at which President JG Zuma conferred such medals.
