Recruitment of health professionals and social workers

24 Feb 2010

The Limpopo Department of Health and Social Development embarked on an intensive skills recruitment drive, targeting health professionals with different health and social services professionals.

To this effect, the department is making an appeal to all medical doctors and social workers who are interested in joining the department to make their information available at any of the province’s 40 hospitals and / or district offices as a matter of extreme urgency.

MEC for Health and Social Development Miriam Segabutla says, “We have come up with this skills recruitment drive targeting health professionals to beef up our current personnel in health institutions. We are mindful of the fact that health remains one of the key priorities for the next five years and we therefore need to beef up the existing health personnel to enable it to respond to the dynamic daily challenges in our facilities.”

The recruitment drive is targeting the following categories of health professionals:
* medical doctors
* medical specialists
* dentists
* pharmacists
* clinical psychologists
* professional nurses
* physiotherapists
* occupational therapists
* social workers
* speech therapists
* radiographers
* optometrists
* dieticians
* oral hygienists.

The department is confident that an additional workforce in the health profession will help to improve the health conditions for the people of Limpopo.
