Invitation for interested parties to attend a media briefing on the authority’s approach to regulating competition concerns in the information and communication technologies (ICT) sector under the Electronic Communications Act (ECA)

The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA) hereby invites all interested parties to a media briefing on the authority’s approach to the development of regulations under Section 67(4) of the ECA, those are: defining markets, evaluating effectiveness of competition, declaring identified licensees to have significant market power and the imposition, if necessary, of pro-competitive terms and conditions.

This approach, outlined in the form of a guideline, is a precursor to the authority releasing any regulations that may impose pro-competitive terms and conditions.

The media briefing shall be held as follows:

Date: 8 March 2010
Time: 10h00 to 11h00
Venue: Block C presentation room, Pinmill Farm, 164 Katherine Street, Sandton.
