Release of results of Income and Expenditure Survey (IES) and new weights for the Consumer Price Index (CPI)

Statistics South Africa (Stats SA) will release the results of the 2010/11 Income and Expenditure Survey (IES) and the new weights for the Consumer Price Index (CPI) on Tuesday, 6 November 2012 in Johannesburg.

The data on household expenditure collected through the IES forms the basis of the weights of the CPI. The weights of the CPI are updated periodically in order to ensure their relevance to changing patterns of consumer expenditure.

The briefing will start at 9h30 for 10h00 and will be completed by approximately 13h30. More information regarding the event will be given closer to the release date.
