President Zuma appoints Acting Minister of Home Affairs

2 Oct 2012

Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma has resigned her position as Minister of Home Affairs ahead of taking up a position as the Chairperson of the AU Commission in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, later this month.

President Jacob Zuma has appointed the Minister of Science and Technology, Ms Naledi Pandor as Acting Minister of Home Affairs from 1 October 2012 until the vacancy is filled.

“I wish to thank Dr Dlamini Zuma most sincerely for the remarkable contribution that she made in the work of Parliament as a Member of the National Assembly and the lasting impact she made in the National Executive as a Minister in different portfolios since 1994. She definitely served the country with distinction in all the tasks that she was charged with, in our quest to better the lives of our people,’’ said President Zuma.

The President wished the former Minister well as she prepares to take up her new position at the AU Headquarters.
