Portfolio Committee oversight visit to the Lesotho Highlands Water Project

All media are hereby informed of the oversight visit to be undertaken by the Portfolio Committee (PC) on Water and Environmental Affairs to the Lesotho Highlands Water Project (LHWP).

This visit follows the intention to do so by the Portfolio Committee as part of its normal work as decided upon during the Committee’s briefing by the Department of Water Affairs (DWA) and the Trans-Caledon Tunnel Authority (TCTA) on 4 September. The oversight will be on work around Phases I and II of the LHWP.

During this visit the Portfolio Committee will be hosted and updated by the Lesotho Highlands Water Commission. The Portfolio Committee will be accompanied by a DWA delegation led by the Director-General as well as TCTA team personnel.

Details of the visit are as follows:

Date: 1-3 October 2012
Venue: Maseru, Polihali, Katse and Mohale Dams
Times: Will be determined by programme
