Minister Susan Shabangu to launch Wits Mining Research Institute

Mineral Resources Minister, Ms Susan Shabangu (MP) will deliver the keynote address at the launch of the University of the Witwatersrand Mining Research Institute (WMRI) today, September 27, 2012 at the Wits Club, West Campus in Johannesburg, Gauteng.

The WMRI will serve as Africa’s leading multidisciplinary research centre and will particularly focus on opening new mining areas, a national mine closure strategy, the development of a minerals beneficiation economy, and the nurturing of skills. The institute will also provide independent evidence-based advice to the mining industry and government.
