Gauteng celebrates provincial Heritage Day

The Gauteng government will host the Provincial Heritage Day celebration at Maropeng, the Cradle of Humankind on Monday 24 September 2012.

Atleast 10 000 people are expected to descend upon this historical site to join the celebrations hosted under the theme "2012 - Year of Heritage -Celebrating the Heroes and Heroines of the Liberation Struggle in South Africa.

Among others this is meant to create awareness on the importance of Liberation Heritage as a vehicle to foster social cohesion, nation building, economic development and inclusive citizenship.
