Premier Zille to address safety concerns in Western Cape

17 Sep 2012

On Tuesday, 18 September, Premier Helen Zille will hold a media briefing to address safety concerns in the Western Cape, particularly gang violence on the Cape Flats. This follows the shooting incident of this past weekend in Hanover Park in which six-year-old Leeana van Wyk and seven-year-old Liam Davids were injured.

Premier Zille will be joined at the briefing by Western Cape Minister for Community Safety, Dan Plato, and City of Cape Town Mayoral Committee member for Community Safety, Alderman JP Smith. They will both give detailed presentations of the province and city’s efforts to increase safety and tackle crime in identified "hotspot" areas through targeted, multi-actor interventions.
