Eastern Cape Department of Transport to celebrate Women’s Month

21 Aug 2012

As part of Women’s Month programme, the Eastern Cape Department of Transport will host Roadblock led by women on 23 August 2012 in Chris Hani District Municipality at Whitllesea Island at 7h00.

At 10h00 all stakeholders will converge in a tent to pay tribute and light candles on behalf of women who passed away due to road accidents. This initiative responds to road safety’s Decade of Action Campaign, which coordinates stakeholders for the improvement of road safety.

“As government, we need to intensify our efforts to improve road safety, however, each of us has an important role to play to stop this carnage which causes unnecessary loss of lives and injuries” said Transport Minister Ben Martin.
