MEC welcomes arrest of five suspects in Jansenville farm murder

15 Aug 2012

MEC for Human Settlements, Safety and Liaison has welcomed the arrests of five suspects linked to the murder of an elderly Jansenville farmer who was stabbed to death and his wife left unconscious by a gang of robbers in their farm on Sunday.

“We were shocked to learn about this brutal, inhumane killing of an elderly by young people. It is disheartening that our young people could do this to one of their own elders in their own locality,” August said. She said the five juveniles should be known by the community and should bring them to police.

“I am very pleased with the quick response by police and arrest of the suspects by police. This swift response will restore public confidence in the South African Police Service.”
