High density units to be handed over in Langa township's Joe Slovo

13 Aug 2012

Human Settlements Minister, Tokyo Sexwale, accompanied by the Premier of the Western Cape, Helen Zille, MEC for Human Settlements, Bonginkosi Madikizela and the Executive Mayor of the City of Cape Town, Patricia de Lille, will hand over more than 300 high density housing units as part of the Joe Slovo Phase 3 housing project in Langa township, Cape Town.

The project is aimed at transforming the Joe Slovo informal settlement into a dignified community. It provides more housing opportunities to minimise the relocation of people and ensure a meaningful engagement between all role players in the project to avoid past mistakes and to adhere to the 10 June 2009 ConCourt ruling.
