Road closures due to heavy snowfall

7 Aug 2012

The Department of Police, Roads and Transport in the Free State would like to inform motorists that the following roads are temporarily closed as a result of heavy snowfall in the province:

  • Fouriesburg – Clarens P51/1
  • Clarence – Qwa Qwa P31/2
  • Kestel – Qwa qwa P64/1
  • University of Free State (QwaQwa)– Setsing P101/1
  • Setsing – Monontsha S1569
  • Harrismith – Bergville P81/1
  • Harrismith – Qwa Qwa P65/1

Motorists travelling through the province are strongly advised to exercise extreme caution especially those travelling overnight and tomorrow morning as melting snow is expected to freeze and cause treacherous road conditions.

Motorists are also advised to use alternative routes where possible as the roads will only be opened when the ice and snow melted.
