Labour to brief Parliament’s Portfolio Committee following inputs by stakeholders on amendments to the LRA and the BCEA

The Department of Labour (DoL) is to brief Parliament’s Portfolio Committee on Labour on inputs made recently by various interested stakeholders during the public hearings on Labour Relations Amendment (LRA) Bill and Basic Conditions of Employment Amendment (BCEA) Bill.

The department’s briefing before the Portfolio Committee on Labour on inputs regarding the Basic Conditions of Employment Amendment Bill and the Labour Relations Amendment Bill, will be held on Wednesday (August 8) at Committee Room V475; 4th Floor; Old Assembly Building. The Department’s briefing will start at 9am-13:00.

It follows hot on the hills of public hearings in which various organisations made inputs before the committee. These included Agri SA, Agri Wes Kaap/Cape, Cosatu, Labour broking Division of the Construction Engineering Association of South Africa, Nactu, Salga, Solidarity, and the Western Cape Government Department of the Premier.

Other organisations that were provided a platform to make their inputs were: African Professional Staffing Organisation, CAPES, DLA Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr on behalf of estate industry, Eskom, the Board of Health Care Funders of South Africa, the South African Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr Price Group, Forestry South Africa, Fedhasa, Business Unity South Africa, the Retail Association, Confederation of Associations in the Private Employment Sector, African Professional Staffing Organisation, SA Board for People Practices South African Chamber of Commerce and Industry, South African Society for Labour Law and Fedusa.

The Parliamentary hearings followed the submission of Bills by Labour Minister in March to Parliament.
