Mangaung African Cultural Festival (MACUFE) 2012 – 15th Anniversary celebration

The Mangaung African Cultural Festival (MACUFE) celebrates its 15th anniversary in 2012. As this cultural pilgrimage of the Free State celebrates its 15th anniversary, having grown from strength to strength in the past years, the 15th edition promises to be an exhilarating spectacle for the multitude of patrons who have fallen in love with this festival.
The 2012 MACUFE edition will be staged from the 5th to the 14th October 2012.
On the menu are palatable international, national and local artists who will make the 15th anniversary of MACUFE a real celebration. Among such artists are the following:
- International: Angie Stone, Randy Crawford,Joe Sample etc.
- National: Zahara, Lira, Letta Mbulu, Caiphus Semenya, Ringo, Loyiso Bala, Sibongile Mngoma, Gloria Bosman, Elviz Blue, Heinz Winkler, Jimmy Dludlu,etc.
- Local: Bochabela Strings Orchestra, Ntshiuwa, Thabo Pitse, Monica Maree, Jimmie Roosskool Gumboot dancers; Valley of Thousand Voices Choir, Desmond Rasenthunsha, Bonolo, Deda, Radi, Maleh etc.
Scintillating shows which has become the feature of MACUFE, such as Ons Konsert, Indoor Jazz, Comedy Festival, Divas Concert, Main Music Festival etc will be staged featuring the above and other artists.
True to its African identity, a 1½ hours musical cocktail involving South African artists and other African artists from across the African continent will be showcased during the festival.
The celebration of the 15th anniversary of MACUFE comes at the time when the country celebrates the Centenary of the Liberation History of our nation. The Free State province, the home of MACUFE, also the birthplace of the oldest liberation movement on the African continent, was the proud host of the main celebration which was staged in Bloemfontein on the 12th January 2012. A theatre production relevant to this Liberation History will be staged.
