11 Jul 2012

Last night Tuesday, 10 July 2012 Western Cape police arrested four people for the possession of drugs worth about R1, 6 million at a house in Maitland.

Maitland police in conjunction with the provincial SAPS suspect tracing teams executed search operations in the Maitland area. During the operation, members went to a house in Van Riebeeck Road, Brooklyn, looking for a suspect wanted in connection with maintenance.

Upon their arrival, the members saw through a kitchen window, how the residents removed a black bag from the kitchen. When the police members entered the house, they found the black bag, containing five packets of tik, weighing 4, 9 kilograms with an estimated street value of R1, 6 million.

They arrested four foreign nationals (two males and two females) aged between 24 and 33 for possession of drugs. The suspects will appear in the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court tomorrow 12 July 2012.
