Gauteng premier participates in the launch of Child Protection Week

20 May 2010

Gauteng Premier Nomvula Mokonyane together with the President of the Republic of South Africa, Mr Jacob Zuma, will launch the Child Protection Week on Friday, 21 May.

Child Protection Week has become an annual campaign to educate and mobilise communities to put children first.

This year, the campaign will be a build up towards the protection of children during the 2010 FIFA World Cup and beyond. The event will also mark the launch of the Children's Act which came into effect on the first of April 2010.

Child Protection Week runs from 26 May to 2 June 2010.
