Another body discovered at Freedom Park

29 Jun 2012

Phokeng Police discovered a body of a 30 year old woman who was found murdered in the Freedom Park informal settlement on Thursday 28 June 2012 at about 7h00.

It is alleged that the Lesotho National was last seen going to a local shop Wednesday afternoon and she never returned home.

According to the information at our disposal, the deceased was found naked with stab wounds in the chest and in the right arm. It is suspected that the victim could have been raped before she was killed.

The police have raised their concern about the rising number of incidents in which people are been killed in this similar modus operandi following a trend in which two other bodies were discovered recently. Our investigations revealed that this is the third body to be discovered in Freedom Park within a short space of time.

On 30 May 2012 members of the public found a body of a 26 year old male lying on the ground with stab wounds. Again on Sunday 3 June 2012 a 27 year old male body was discovered in the RDP houses with shot wounds to his right ear.

Police have since arrested three suspects in connection with the murder.  Further investigations continue in an attempt to link the arrested suspects with the other alleged cases.
