Trade and Industry Committee calls for submissions

26 Jun 2012

The Portfolio Committee on Trade and Industry is calling for written and oral submissions on the Cooperatives Amendment Bill and the Cooperatives Second Amendment Bill.

The purpose of the Bills is to introduce additional regulations for the cooperatives sector to encourage the growth of cooperatives.

The two Bills make provisions for the establishment of a cooperative development agency. The aim of the agency is to help with the governance and management of the cooperatives sector and to lend support to the development of cooperatives as an organised sector.

Members for the Committee are available for interviews.
