The Standing Committee on Public Accounts (SCOPA) goes on oversight visit

19 Jun 2012

The Standing Committee on Public Accounts (Scopa) is visiting Bushbuckridge and Botshelo Water Boards from today, 19 June until 22 June 2012. The Committee is on a week-long oversight visit to Mpumalanga and North West provinces.

The Committee has held hearings on the annual reports (2009/10 financial year) of the two entities following briefings by the Auditor-General (AG). The Committee had been, to a certain extent, aware of the challenges that the two entities faced, but established during the hearings that some of the challenges were adversely affecting service delivery. The undesirable audit outcomes from the AG also indicated far deeper impediments. The Committee intends to monitor the two entities throughout the year.
