Social Development Committee visits KZN

19 Jun 2012

As part of fulfilling its oversight mandate, Parliament's Portfolio Committee on Social Development will today, Tuesday, 19 June start its week long oversight visit to Durban.

The visit will look at the facilities that are sponsored by the Department of Social Development, such as Old Age Homes. This is to see whether government is getting its value for money.

The committee will also look at the conditions of South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) pay points, the re-registration process and the challenges facing the agency.
