President Zuma sends condolences to Nigeria following plane crash

On behalf of the Government and the people of South Africa, His Excellency President Jacob Zuma has expressed his heartfelt condolences to the Government and the people of the Republic of Nigeria following a plane crash on Sunday night, 3 June 2012, which is reported to have claimed the lives of more than 150 people.

President Zuma said: “We join the government and the people of Nigeria in mourning this tragic loss of life.” To the families and friends that lost loved ones, President Zuma said: “Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time of mourning and sadness."

By Monday morning, 4 June 2012, the South African mission in Nigeria did not report any South African casualties as a result of the plane crash.
