Madiba moves back to Qunu

28 May 2012

President Jacob Zuma is pleased to announce that former President Nelson Mandela is to return to his home in Qunu in the Eastern Cape tomorrow, 29 May 2012.

Madiba relocated briefly to his Houghton home recently while the Qunu residence was being refurbished. He has indicated his wish to go back to Qunu at this point. He resides in both residences interchangeably depending on his wishes at any particular time.

“Madiba is in good health and we constantly assure him of the love, support and good wishes of millions of South Africans and people around the world," said President Zuma.
The Presidency reminds all of the need to respect the privacy of Madiba and his family during the relocation.
