The Department of Health would like to dismiss the rumours making the rounds in the media about a shortage in condom distribution as untrue and unfounded.

The Department of Health is unaware of the alleged shortage.

Our monthly distribution is between 38 to 43 million condoms and our programmes are well on track. In November 2009 alone, we distributed about 63 million condoms.

We also do not anticipate any shortage in condom distribution during the 2010 FIFA World Cup. We will have enough supply.
