Midland meat contractors

15 Jan 2010

The Gauteng Department of Health and Social Development would like to correct the impression created by the Democratic Alliance (DA) in the province that the department owes millions of rands to Midland meat contractors for over two years.

Our records indicate that the supplier has been paid a total of R3,7 million up to October 2009. The department further acknowledges that the payments to the supplier for the months of November and December have not been processed yet.

The department also wants to emphasise that no summons have been received from the company for the department to appear in court.

The Gauteng Department of Health and Social Development is committed to pay all outstanding payments to suppliers as soon as our cash flow problem improves.
