Finance Minister to address media on retirement reforms

The Minister of Finance Pravin Gordhan announced in the 2012 Budget that the National Treasury will publish this year a series of discussion papers on the promotion of household savings and the reform of the retirement industry.

In this regard, the National Treasury will on Monday, 14 May 2012 publish an overview paper titled, Strengthening Retirement Funding and Savings, which contextualises the 2012 budget proposals.

Ahead of the release of this paper, National Treasury will host a media workshop run by Treasury officials, which will then be followed by a media conference addressed by the Minister of Finance.

Details of the workshop and media conference are as follows:
Date: 14 May 2012
Venue: National Treasury, 40 Church Square, Pretoria.
Time: (Workshop): 10h30-11h45
Time: (Media conference): 12h00 - 12h30

NB: Hard copies of the discussion document will be available for reading by journalists at the venue from 09h30. There will be no electronic copies of the document made available before the start of the media conference.
