President Zuma declares special official funeral for former Minister Shiceka

3 May 2012

President Jacob Zuma has decided to declare the funeral of the late former Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Mr Sicelo Shiceka as a Special Official Funeral Category 1.

This category of the funeral is reserved for distinguished persons specifically designated by the President of the Republic of South Africa. All national flags will fly at half-mast at all flag stations in the country from Monday, 7 May 2012 until the evening of burial.

The funeral is expected to take place on Saturday, 12 May 2012 in Midrand, Gauteng province. Further details will be announced as they become available.
