The release of Nayati Shamilin Moodliar in Malaysia

3 May 2012

It is with great relief that the South African Government has learnt of the release of 12 year old Nayati Shamilin Moodliar in Malaysia on the morning of 3 May 2012 after his kidnapping a week ago. The parents of Nayati have confirmed his release to the South African High Commission in Kuala Lumpur and indicated that they were re-united with him earlier today.

The South African Government extends its appreciation to the Government of Malaysia for its role in bringing about the release of the child and trust that the perpetrators of the kidnapping will soon be brought to book.  The government also wishes to thank members of the public for their support to the family.
