KZN Legislature Hosts the Workers' Parliament

30 Apr 2012

The KwaZulu-Natal Legislature will hold the annual Workers' Parliament in Mandeni, kwa Sithebe, e- Makhempini under the ILembe District Municipality on the 3-4 May 2012.

Workers' Parliament is one of other public participation initiatives of the legislature, which allow the legislature to involve various sectors of society in matters of governance. With the month of May being the Worker's month, workers from the three major federations in the province, namely, Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU), National Council of Trade Unions (NACTU), and Federation of Unions of South Africa (FEDUSA) will converge in Mandini to discuss matters that affect workers, and these discussions will ultimately lead to the signing of resolutions that will be forwarded to relevant Committees of the Legislature for further discussions and implementation. The chosen theme for this year’s Workers Parliament "Celebrating workers contribution in the struggle for liberation".

Media representatives are invited to cover the event.
