Deputy Minister Bogopane-Zulu in Morocco to address Africa’s women empowerment vision
23 Feb 2012Deputy Minister of Women, Children and People with Disabilities, Mrs Hendrietta Bogopane-Zulu is in Morocco where she is attending the conference on the place and role of women in the development of African countries.
The conference, hosted in the town of Tangier, aims to strengthen the capacities of participants so that they will be actively involved in the process of transforming their respective countries. It is expected that at the conclusion of the conference, women participating in it will be equipped to play a key role in accelerating development.
The conference, which commenced on Monday and comes to an end today, will strive to find ways to build capacity and open new opportunities for participants to be able to actively participate in the formulation and implementation of the vision of development in their respective countries.
The deputy minister will be emphasising South Africa’s vision of empowering women and promoting their participation in the country’s economic and rural development. She will also be examining issues concerning leadership, public policies and governance, with particular attention to performance and results. This is done in order to determine a common development agenda for the interest of the majority of all the African countries.
It is also envisaged that participants will take initiatives to reform and modernise services and institutions in their respective countries. The conference is hosted by the African Training and Research Centre in Administration for Development in partnership with Hanns-Seidel Foundation and the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Education.
