President Zuma concludes a visit to Benin

President Jacob Zuma has today, 19 February 2012, returned from Cotonou, Republic of Benin, where he attended a consultative meeting at the invitation of the Chairperson of the African Union (AU) His Excellency President Boni Yayi of Benin. 

The meeting dealt with, among other issues, capacity building within the AU, continental economic integration and political unity.

The President Zuma described the meeting as useful and frank.

The meeting follows the 18th Assembly of Heads of State and Government which took place in January 2012 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, where President Yayi was elected to the rotating position of Chairperson of the AU.

On his way back to South Africa President Zuma also had a stop over in Luanda, Angola where he had a meeting with the President of the Republic of Angola and SADC Chairperson, His Excellency President Jose` Dos Santos.
