Eastern Cape Department of Transport conducts workshops to curb irregular expenditure

30 Jan 2012

In a bid to curb irregular expenditure within the department, the Eastern Cape Department of Transport’s Supply Chain Management unit will conduct workshops on the prohibition of irregular expenditure.

“All employees from the salary level 8 and above must attend this workshop and depending on the size of District conference room, the facilitator would conduct two sessions to ensure the information reaches as many employees as possible,” said Supply Chain Management Director, Sindisa Conjwa.

He further explained that the department is embarking on these Road Shows following a Circular that came into effect on 1 January 2012 that clearly shows that there will be zero tolerance to further incurring of irregular expenditure, in terms of the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA), 1999. It is encouraged that those who have copies of the PFMA should bring them along.

“The department encourages full compliance with procurement procedures and this is a responsibility of every official”, said Conjwa.
