NWPL to pay an oversight visit to various schools and special schools in the province
24 Jan 2012 The North West Provincial Legislature’s Portfolio Committee on Education, Sports Arts and Culture will be paying an oversight visit to various schools including special schools in the province from Wednesday, 25-27 January 2012.
The purpose of the visit is to assess the schools’ readiness for the 2012 school year.
Chairperson of the Committee, Hon. Fenny Motladiile, said they are visiting the schools to check not only the infrastructure but also to monitor whether everything is in place.
“We have identified a number of focus areas, and these include the availability of textbooks and workbooks; checking whether vacancies have been filled; and also to ensure that effective learning and teaching is taking place.
“We will also be visiting various special schools around the province as a follow up on the visit and recommendations we made to the Department of Education last year. We must check whether that all our recommendations have been implemented.
Hon Motladiile also commended the Department of Education for the excellent matric results the province has obtained in 2011.
