Western Cape MEC for Education Donald Grant to announce the 2011 Literacy and Numeracy results

19 Jan 2012

The Western Cape government firmly believes in the importance of systemic testing in the management of education and the improvement of learner performance.

That is why this province leads the rest of the country in the use of extensive independent testing for Grade 3, 6 and 9 learners.

In 2011 over 240 000 Grade 3, 6 and 9 learners took part in the Literacy and Numeracy tests and tomorrow we look forward to releasing the results.

These standardised tests enables the Western Cape Education Department (WCED) to identify problem areas and to undertake focused remedial action in the fields of literacy and numeracy performance.

Date: Friday, 20 January 2012
Time: 11h00
Venue: 23rd floor, Sanlam Building, Golden Acre, Adderley Street, Cape Town.

(Please allow for some time to park and to go through security access)
