Minister Ndebele to release 2011/12 festive season road traffic statistics

Transport Minister Sibusiso Ndebele will announce the 2011/12 festive season road traffic statistics on Monday, 16 January 2012 in Pretoria.

The Minister will also announce plans to intensify road safety in line with the United Nations Decade of Action for Road Safety 2011 to 2020.

Minister Ndebele will also hand over the Torch of Peace to the Department of Basic Education, as part of the Safer Schools Campaign as schools reopen for the 2012 academic year.

Details of the event are as follows:
Date: Monday, 16 January 2012
Time: 9h30 for 10h00
Venue: Department of Transport (Indaba Boardroom), 159 Struben and Bosman Street, Pretoria

The Minister will be joined by Transport MECs, the Director-General of the Department of Transport, Acting CEO of the Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC), Acting CEO of the Road Accident Fund (RAF), other senior government officials as well as leadership of the taxi industry.
