Two people die after bakkie crashes

6 Jan 2012

Two people have died after an Isuzu bakkie with a trailer crashed on the R40 Road towards the Bulembu Boarder Post today, 6 January 2012 in the morning.

Preliminary investigation indicates that the bakkie which had nine people, lost control on a sharp curve and later crashed. Seven people who survived the accident were rushed to the hospital of which two of them were seriously injured.

Mpumalanga Community Safety, Security and Liaison MEC Vusi Shongwe sends condolences to the families of the deceased and wishes a speedy recovery to the injured. The MEC had recently warned that human errors including excessive speeding are some of the factors that cause accidents on the roads.

“Speeding is one of the causes that has led to people losing their lives in road accidents. We will not hesitate to arrest non obeying drivers who threaten the lives of other people,” said Shongwe.
