Minister Gigaba to visit Port of Richards Bay

The Minister of Public Enterprises, Mr Malusi Gigaba will tomorrow meet with the key stakeholders of Richards Bay in KwaZulu-Natal, which includes Zululand Chamber of Business, labour and community leaders as part of business breakfast to inform them about the rail and ports infrastructure plans in the area.

The breakfast meeting was requested by the Mhlathuze Local Municipality, which has a vested interest in the development plans for the rail and ports infrastructure in Richards Bay.

Minister Gigaba will also be joined by Transnet Group CE, Brian Molefe who will make a presentation to the business delegates. The Minister and other delegates will then proceed on a tour of the Port of Richards Bay.

There have been developments in terms of efficiency for the week ending 25 September 2011 on the coal export line, the line achieved the highest daily output of 35 trains, a weekly output of 1.62mt, a record monthly tonnage of 6.61 and a record quarterly output of 18.44mt.
