Media Alert and photo opportunity: Minister Bonginkosi Madikizela to hand over houses in Mama's Project, Pelican Park, Cape Town

Please note : the handover of houses in Mama’s Project, Pelican Park, Cape Town, scheduled for today 23 November 2011, has been cancelled until further notice.  This office apologises for any inconvenience.

Western Cape Human Settlements Minister Bonginkosi Madikizela will hand over 59 houses in Mama’s Project, Pelican Park, Cape Town, at 14h30 on 25 Nov 2011.

The project, beginning in 2004 has a long history of blockages, and community conflict regarding the allocation of houses.  Beneficiaries are being allocated houses in Phase 1 according to the date they joined the housing project, and their age.

Note: There is an all day program, but Minister Madikizela will be present for handovers at 14h30.

Directions: 

Drive along the N2 away from Cape Town. Drive about 4.2 km, passing  the M5. Take the M17/Jan Smuts Drive exit and head South, driving past Athlone. Drive about  4.5km. At Sterretjie Road turn right,  then right again. Mama’s project  is on your left.
