Department to commemorate Mental Health Awareness Month

The Gauteng Department of Health and Social Development will on Friday, 28 October 2011 commemorate the Mental Health Awareness month at Kwa Thema Stadium in Ekurhuleni.

Under the theme, One Sky One World, Mental Health for All, the event aims to educate the community about mental illness and the role that they can play in assisting those suffering from the condition as well as to eradicate the stigma associated with the illness.

Mental illness is a behavioural, mental, or emotional disorder that interferes with the person’s lifestyle, however with early diagnosis, care treatment and rehabilitation most people can recover from the illness.
