President Jacob Zuma arrived in New York, USA, this morning (22 September 2009), ahead of the opening of the 64th session of the UN General Assembly tomorrow.

This year's UN General Assembly Session will be held under the Theme "Effective responses to global crises; strengthening multilateralism and dialogue among civilisations for international peace; security and development".

President Zuma will later today attend a working luncheon hosted by US President Barack Obama with heads of state and government from sub-Saharan Africa. The meeting is expected to discuss issues of investment, trade and food security in Africa.

In the afternoon, President Zuma is scheduled to hold bilateral discussions with Chinese President Hu Jintao.

President Zuma will attend a working dinner hosted by UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon on climate change. The dinner follows the High Level Summit on Climate Change being held at the United Nations today.

President Zuma is expected to address the UN General Assembly tomorrow afternoon (23 September 2009).

From New York, President Zuma will proceed to Pittsburgh, Pennysylvania, USA, for the G20 Summit scheduled from 24-25 September 2009. From Pittsburgh, President Zuma will proceed to Caracas, Venezuela for the Africa - South America scheduled for the 27-28 September 2009.
