MEC Mohono disappointed with NW Speedsters rulings
30 Sep 2011 North West MEC for Human Settlements, Public Safety & Liaison, Ms Desbo Mohono has expressed shock and disappointment with suspended sentences that speedsters Platinum Stars Striker, Thuso Phala and former North West Operating Licensing Board members Neo Schalk received from the Brits Magistrates Court in the North West Province.
“Besides serving as a criminal record against the two, the imposed sentences do not serve the course of road safety” said a dejected MEC Mohono.
Mohono had earlier welcomed Schalk’s sentence but was disappointed that written confirmation outlined that the 6 months sentence and or R4000 fine are suspended for3 years which is the same ruling that was given to Phala on Friday.
Phala and Schalk were caught driving at 195 km/h and 189km/s respectively on the N4 Bakwena Platinum.
