Minister Paul Mashatile pays tribute to South African actress Gloria Mudau
7 Sep 2011 It is with immense sadness that we learnt of the passing away of South Africa’s talented actress, Gloria Mudau.
A teacher by profession, Mudau turned to acting later in her life and yet immediately won the admiration of many people. Gloria Mudau was better known to many as Sis Louise in the long running Zulu comedy series ‘Sgudi Snaysi”.
Another of her well-known roles was in the comedy drama ‘Khululeka’ which was launched in 1994 to educate first-time voters. In this comedy, Mudau played the role of Sis Pretty in which she magnificently demonstrated the do’s and don’ts of election period to television viewers. She was a gifted actress who portrayed her characters in humorous yet educative manner.
Mudau contributed to our rich cultural tapestry and will be sorely missed. She will live on in our memories. We wish to convey our sincere condolences to her family, colleagues and friends. Enquiries:
